SHRM Affiliates in Nine States Win 2011 Pinnacle Award for Creating Workplace Solutions
Alexandria, Va. – The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) today presented nine affiliates with the highest honor given to SHRM state councils and chapters—the Pinnacle Award—during its Leadership Conference, taking place Nov. 17-19 in Arlington, Va.
Affiliates from Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio, Texas and Washington won the award for developing innovative human resource programs on a variety of workforce issues, including: military or veteran-focused HR; workplace diversity; the impact of local legislative relationships on business policy; workplace violence; job training for youth and the homeless.
“For 21 years, the Pinnacle Award has recognized innovative solutions from SHRM’s chapters and state councils to local workforce challenges,” said Henry G. (Hank) Jackson, the president and CEO of SHRM. “The winning programs demonstrate that HR professionals know what’s next for their businesses and many of the workplace challenges we see today.”
Created in 1991, the award also honors programs that exceed the standard activities of SHRM affiliates in enhancing the creation of effective HR management.
Winning programs selected from nearly 70 applications received a $1,000 prize, sponsored by ADP Inc. this year.
“ADP is pleased to honor the achievements of these SHRM chapters and state councils,” said Regina Lee, president of Major Account Services, National Account Services, ADP Canada and GlobalView for ADP. “It’s truly inspiring to see how HR professionals are using new and innovative ways to create programs that address business challenges and issues.”
